Sledding, Snowballs, and Winter Fun
Winterberg is a paradise for outdoor and winter sports enthusiasts, we took full advantage of the snowy hills. Sledding down the slopes was an absolute highlight of our trip. But you can also go skiing, snowboarding or just hiking into the hills around this town.
Savoring Local Delicacies
After a day of fun in the snow, we treated ourselves to some hearty local food. Schnitzel, a breaded and fried pork cutlet, is a must-try and we enjoyed it in several local taverns, where it was served with crispy fries and a side of fresh salad.
Another staple of the region is Brätwurst, a deliciously spiced sausage that goes perfectly with mustard or sauerkraut on a tasty roll.
For dessert, don’t miss the warm Apfelstrudel, an apple-pie that goes perfectly with a cup of coffee.
In the evening, after a long walk, try Glühwein, a warm, spiced wine that warms you from the inside out. This traditional German drink is especially popular in the winter months and is a perfect companion for a cozy night out in Winterberg.
